Tyler Reed - Guitar/Bass/Violin

 

Instructor since September 2015. Has been playing guitar for 12 years. Graduated in 2016 with a Bechelor's in Music Performance, Guitar at McNeese State University with a Minor in Violin Performance. Was in the McNeese Big Band for 2 years. He is proficient in Classical and Jazz Guitar, and Violin. Played bass for Perfectly Good Airplane. He also writes and is self producing his own album. Studied piano with Dr. Corley and Dr. Morita at McNeese.

 

Taylor Lee - Bass


Instructor with us since May 2017. Has been playing bass for over 16 years. Is familiar with Jazz, Heavy Metal, Country, Pop, Rock, and Funk. Teaches High School English. Played with The Flamethrowers (Covers), Bobcat (Indie Rock), The Yams (Alt-Country), Fo on the Flo (Live Hip-Hop), AF the Naysayer (Hip-Hop/EDM), Lucy in Disguise (Beatles Tribute), Lake Charles Live Album Series (played bass for the following albums' shows: "Rumors"-Fleetwood Mac, "Damn the Torpedoes"-Tom Petty, "Californication"-Red Hot Chili Peppers).

Ryan Miller - Guitar NEW

 

Instructor since September 2017. Has been playing guitar for 8 years. Is studying Jazz Guitar Performance at McNeese State University. Is a member of the McNeese Jazz Ensemble. Also plays in his church group frequently. Is experienced with many different styles of music.

Wesley Royer - Keyboard/Piano

 

Began Teaching with us in January 2014. Professional Keyboardist. Began touring with the Flamethrowers across the Gulf coast in 2012. Played synth with the Revolution Drum & Bugle Corps (San Antonio, TX) for their 2011 Drum Corps International program. Taught privately since 2011. Is familiar with rock, pop, jazz, and classical music. Plays with local groups Flamethrowers (rock covers), Inner Gee (reggae), The Sharp 9s (jazz), & Brittany Phantz Band (soul/folk).

Mary Etherton - Piano

 

Began teaching with us May 2016. Received Bachelors of Music Education from Jacksonville University in Florida. Has played piano since 13 years old. Has led children's choirs and ensembles in churches. Enjoys accompanying. Has been the pianist for various musicals including: Hairspray, In the Heights, Putnam Count Spelling Bee, and Once Upon a Mattress. Has 30 years of teaching experience. Taught at Florida Teaching Studio before coming to Lake Charles. Loves teaching students to love music and play the piano.

Trey Newmiller - Drums (Coaching Sessions Only)

 

Began teaching with us in February 2009 and has been teaching drums since 2003. Works as a full time drummer for numerous bands, including Jerry Diaz & Hannah's Reef (Beaumont, TX), The Kadillacs (Lake Charles), and the Pwells (St. Martinville). He has also played with Chuck Berry (yes the one and only), Choke, Kill Icarus, Cory Lin Landry, Kris Harper, The Mechanical Heart, Matt Moss, Shutterpulse (with Trip Wamsley), Static, Mudbug, Sean Ardoin & Zadekool, Riverfly, and Do Not Destroy. Trey also records drum tracks for local and regional artists. In his spare time, he enjoys flying single-engine aircraft, jet skiing, and video gaming.

Chase Gillett - Drums/Percussion

 

Instructor since September 2015. Currently a Junior at McNeese State University in Music Performance of Percussion. Has 13 years of drumming experience. Proficient in all percussion music (melodic and rhythmic). Participates in the McNeese Steel Drum Band, the Drum Line and the Percussion Ensemble. Currently a member of The Fuzzy Junkies. Also able to read and play piano and guitar.

Josh Hartwell - Drums

 

He is a Senior Music Education student at McNeese State University. Has been a member of many of McNeese's performing ensembles, including Steel Band, Percussion Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, and The Pride of McNeese Cowboy Marching Band Drumline. Began playing drumset at the age of 6. Has performed with local bands in the Lake Charles area, particularly with Inner Gee and local church worship bands. Was a member of DCI's 2016 Louisiana Stars Drum and Bugle Corps - Front Ensemble

Will Christian - Saxophone

 

Began teaching with us April 2016. Studied at McNeese State University. Was the section leader for the McNeese State Band for four years and also woodwind captiain for two years. Outstanding soloist at McNeese Jazz Festival 2012 and Jazz in the Arts Featured Artist March 2016. Has been teaching private lessons for 8 years at Little Cypress-Mauriceville. Currently playing with Street Side Jazz Band, Inner Gee, Old Fashions, Dark Side of the Lake, Sabine River Brass Band, and The Sharp 9s. Has played with Harry James Orchestra, Jimmy Dorsey Big Band, Rory Partin Big Band, and the Lake Charles Symphony.

Tiffany Jones - Reed Instruments

 

Began teaching with us in October 2014. Bachelors of Music - Clarinet, McNeese State University. Masters of Music, Louisiana College. Board member of Lake Charles Symphony and Music Makers 2 U, and Secretary of Disrtict V Band and Orchestra Directors Association. Memer of Bayou Bell Choir and the Asbury Ringers. Has been a music teacher since 2007. Currently teaching at Molo Middle School.

William Ishee - Saxophone

 

Began teaching with us in May 2014. Bachelor of Music Education with a concentration in Alto Saxophone. Section leader for MSU Marching Band for 2 years, 2nd Alto in MSU Wind Symphony, 1st Alto in MSU Jazz Band. Taught Jazz band at Westlake High School and private lessons at Maplewood Middle School. Band director at Iowa High Shcool.

Kevin Auguillard - Brass

 

Began teaching with us in May 2017. Studied Music Performance at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette under Dr. Paul Morton for two years, then continued at McNeese State University under Professor David Scott. Currently plays with many local church groups.

 

Tony James - Voice

 

Began teaching with us in March 2014. Works as a singer, songwriter, and producer. Studied voice and theater arts at Northwestern State University. Has directed productions for Lake Charles Little Theater and ABOB Theater (Jennings). Currently staff singer and Children's Choir Director at First United Methodist Church.

Suzanne Kelley - Voice

Is co-owner of Swicegood Music and Right Note Studio. Bachelors of Music Education - Voice, University of North Texas. Performs with the Louisiana Choral Foundation. Member of the choir at First United Methoist Church. Has performed as a soloist for McNeese State University, Lake Charles Symphony, Masterworks Chorale, and for weddings, funerals, and other events.

Vanessa Vera-Bernard - Violin/Viola

 

She began playing violin at age 12 under the instruction of Priscilla McGar in Bayton, TX. She studied performance in violin at Northwestern State University. Since then, she lent her strings to recordings for groups such as Catch-35, and Houston's the Fab 40, church choirs in Texas and Louisiana, and the Baytown Symphony Orchestra. She started teaching in 2015.

Mackensie Woodcock - Cello & Ukulele

 

Has been playing cello since 2010. Played with McNeese Youth Orchestra for 2 years. Assisted in teaching a beginner cello class at McNeese. Privately studied for 4 years under Mrs. Sheri Greening and played in ensembles.
